Gregg has dedicated himself to assisting others in making their communities better places in which to live. During his long professional career, he has refined a complete set of management and leadership skills and techniques essential to the success of organizations. His experiences in city management, nonprofit governance, consulting and teaching offer strengths in problem-solving, capacity-building and communication within diverse organizations and settings.
Gregg Guetschow has more than 40 years experience in local government management in Michigan, serving in three cities and a village. Since establishing Gregg Guidance, LLC, he has served as interim manager in four Michigan communities and has assisted several others through group process facilitation.
Gregg has also held positions on nonprofit boards of directors for organizations involved in business development, professional education and health care. He is a past chairman of Charlotte [Michigan] Area Networking for Development and Opportunity (Can Do!) and currently serves as its secretary.
Gregg earned a bachelor of arts, cum laude, in political science and sociology, a master of public administration and a Ph.D. in public affairs and administration, all from Western Michigan University. He was an adjunct instructor at Baker College of Owosso from 2007 to 2011 teaching the class “American Political System.” Since 2010, he has been an advisor for Michigan’s Girls State program, overseeing a portion of the local government simulation component.
Gregg has been a keynoter, speaker and panelist for many groups and organizations throughout his career. Topics have included problem solving, board basics, leadership, local government fiscal stress, and employment termination. In addition, he has facilitated visioning, strategic planning and other group processes for nonprofit organizations on numerous occasions.

Jae Guetschow’s initial 32 year career in public service followed receipt of a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University in 1977. This career culminated in 2010 during which he honed problem-solving skills as a Children’s Services caseworker and mastered public speaking after progressing to administration in 1990. Among noteworthy achievements are three affordable housing initiatives for Lenawee County.
Mr. Guetschow’s interest in municipal government was informed while serving nearly 11 years in appointed and elected offices in the Village of Blissfield. In anticipation of pursuing an encore career in public administration, Jae obtained a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Toledo in December 2010, following which he served as adjunct instructor in government at Jackson College and Owens Community College.
In September 2012, Mr. Guetschow began service as Village Manager in Stevensville during which he assisted in averting a potential financial crisis precipitated from embezzlement by a previous manager. Hired as Assistant City Manager in New Buffalo in March 2014, he was subsequently elevated to Acting City Manager to assist in the transition to a permanent city manager. Jae’s encore career culminated in September 2022 having served seven years as Village Manager in Brooklyn contributing to a repertoire of innovative solutions to challenges faced by small communities.
Mr. Guetschow joined Gregg Guidance, LLC, in January 2023 as Vice-President. In addition to two decades of experience in developing and directing human service and nonprofit organizations, Jae presents a decade of experience guiding small municipalities. A common element, Jae served as the designated representative for three municipalities in separate regional, multi-jurisdictional sanitary sewer authorities. For three years concluding in 2021, he chaired the Leoni Regional Utility Authority consisting of representative from two villages and 11 townships in Jackson, Washtenaw and Lenawee Counties in providing oversight to the regional wastewater treatment facility.
A common theme throughout Mr. Guetschow’s careers in state and municipal government is his passion for affordable housing and residential construction. In addition to once building his own home and renovating five other personal residences, he supervised construction of seven homes with Lenawee County chapter of Habitat for Humanity. He resides with his wife, Debbie, and their two Shih-Tzu mix dogs, Riker and Levi, where he enjoys fishing on nearby Lake Columbia and road trips on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
